Overview

As a student you are likely to find some major differences with a problem-based learning (PBL) approach when compared to what you have experienced elsewhere.

As a PBL student you will required to become an active learner--that is, you will need to take an active role in solving what ever problem situation you are presented with. It's a lot like the real world where you will face a range of complicated or messy issues that you will need to navigate your way through to find an acceptable solution.
You will be working in groups (often not of your choosing) to research and solve situations that are multi-layered and messy.

This type of learning, if not encountered before, is likely to make you a bit uneasy and concerned. Don't worry, this is normal. With guidance from your coaches and tutors you will quickly become use to this style of learning and find that it will make the rest of your studies easier.
