Congratulations on your Appointment

Thanks for joining us. As an Hydrologist Engineer, you have expertise in the physical properties of water, and mechanisms for distributing and harvesting water. Now you need to form a mental picture on whether it might be feasible to tow icebergs to Australia, and harvest the water.

This page will guide you closely through three main issues and prompt you to find examples (facts, statistics, quotations, or any other inputs) that you believe provide significant insights into the issues posed by this quest.

After you've collected an example for each of the issues, you will need to combine these into a single statement that represents a "Truth" about that particular key issue related to harvesting icebergs from Antarctica. You will repeat this process three times.

The links below provide additional information about the process and tasks.

Using Examples to Discover Your Truth

Please take note:
What you type into the boxes on this page you will use to create the Full Report for your role.
None of this information is saved, so it will disappear when you've finished with this page.
To save the report:
  • simply click anywhere in the report window
  • click on your browser's edit menu
  • click on "select all"
  • click again on the edit menu and click on "copy"
  • now open your favourite word processor and paste it into there.

If you're working with a computer or browser that regularly crashes, you can type and save your work as a word processor file first and then paste into the correct fields below when you are ready to build your final report.
For your report to be created your browser must be able to use Javascript.

Type your real name here:

Now work your way through each of the three questions and targeting key issues.
Remember, you can always use the links below to navigate through the issues.

Focusing your Argument: an Action Plan

By examining the proposition of using Antarctic icebergs to water Australia from a Hydrologist Engineer's perspective, you have become an expert on the issues that relate to the possibilities for harvesting Antarctic icebergs. Your informed advice will be most welcomed and a valued perspective for the team.

If Australia decides to harvest icebergs and use the water to revive the Murray-Darling river system, would it be feasible? Use the "truths" you have developed to support your argument and identify the benefits and risks.

Your Action Plan should be a clear statement about the feasibility of towing icebergs to Australia and harvesting the water. It should be thoughtful and succinct.

Type in your Action Plan here:

Once you are happy with your Action Plan, click "Create My Full Report."
A window will pop open with your customized report.
Come back to this page as often as you like to adjust your examples (click in the checkbox if you don't want that example included in your report) and smooth out your Truths and Action Plan until it all makes sense together. Clicking on the "Create My Full Report" button again will change your Full Report Web page. Copy/paste or print out your Full Report and send it to your teammates.
